Top 5 High End Polishes: Summer

After taking a (very) long break from blogging due to University commitments, I am so happy to be back! It's that time of the year again where I have a root through my extensive polish collection and decide on which my favourite five are for the season. I thought I would start with high end polishes as I realised I never posted my high end Spring selection (and it's a little too late now).

American Swap #4

As I've said before, I'm very lucky to have lovely friends overseas whom I have met through unconventional ways. This package swap was done with one of my favourite people in the whole world, Mia. We've done several package swaps but this has probably been my favourite so far!

American Swap #3

I feel so lucky to have the opportunities to do lovely things like package swaps with friends from America who I have met and spoken to a lot through Instagram. This package swap was with the lovely Frederica, who I have blogged about before in regards to a swap which you can see here. This is the second swap with her that I have done and, as per usual, we stick to a budget that we set ourselves. Here are the lovely things she sent me.

Empties #1

I've been meaning to write this blog post for ages but I keep getting distracted by more exciting posts! This has resulted in my "empties" box in my bathroom becoming worryingly full so I'm so glad I'm finally getting around to this so that I can throw all the packaging away! Woo! Apologies for the photo quality, as I've been so busy lately and the sun was starting to set when I took them - boo!

American Christmas Box!

Over the past ten or so months, I have had the pleasure of getting to know a beautiful and lovely young lady called Mia. We have been talking ever since and get on like a house on fire. She really, truly, has become one of my closest friends and I can tell her everything. The only issue is that Mia lives in America, which is preeeeetty far (over 3,500 miles between our two cities to be exact!) so we have both decided to share our differences and take part in package swaps!

Get Ready With Me: Valentines Day

So this is the first time I've ever done something like this, and it was actually pretty fun! A "Get Ready With Me" was never something I thought I would have the guts to do because it means that people see you without any make up on. It's not a pretty sight, and I apologise for that, but I hope you enjoy this anyway!

Top 5 High End Products

As I've said before, and I'll say it again, I'm a massive sucker for high end make up. I've been branching out and trying more drugstore make up recently than I ever had before and have been pleasantly surprised, however there are a few high end products that I think the drugstore just will never be able to beat. (Yes, that is a challenge)

I'm thinking of starting a "Top 5" series where I focus on different areas (mainly cosmetic but, please, throw me other suggestions!). I thought I'd start with something every girl can relate to - drugstore makeup. Now, in the UK we don't call these shops drugstores but the phrase is slowly working its way over from the US and now that I actually can't remember what I used to call them before. Pharmacies, maybe? There are so many amazing products that are overlooked in the drugstore and, to be honest with you, a lot are actually better quality than high end brands. So if you, like I used to be, are quite "same-y" with your make up choices, branch out a little! You may be surprised with all the amazing things you can find - I certainly was.

Valentines is one of this marmite type events - you either love it or you hate it. It's one of those commercial holidays which companies such as Clinton's make an absolute fortune. But to people who moan and complain about it, I say get over it. So what if someone wants to buy the person they love a gift to show them their appreciation? Often people in a relationship can get so comfortable that they forget to remind their other half of how much they mean to them, and I see Valentines as a great reminder to do just that. I also don't see it as something purely for couples. If you have an amazing best friend or family member who deserves to be shown how much you love and appreciate them, this is the perfect moment to show them. It doesn't necessarily have to be in the form of a gift, it can be a card or a day out or even just a text. But if you're thinking of getting someone a gift, I've put together a few ideas of things that I'm pretty sure most girls would love to receive. I recently purchased something I didn't need any more of - an eyeshadow palette! This one is from theBalm which is a Cruelty Free cosmetic company that has only been around for ten years. They have a variety of beautifully packaged products, and I'm really excited to have purchased my first!

I recently decided that it would be a good idea to depot all of my eyeshadows into palettes as my collection is growing rather large and my make up bag is getting really clogged up with all the little pots!
