Top 5 High End Polishes: Summer

After taking a (very) long break from blogging due to University commitments, I am so happy to be back! It's that time of the year again where I have a root through my extensive polish collection and decide on which my favourite five are for the season. I thought I would start with high end polishes as I realised I never posted my high end Spring selection (and it's a little too late now).

Whilst I was rooting through, I realised that I kept on reaching for Essie polishes. I don't know if it's just because of my personal collection of them, but I find that they have the nicest range of colours for when you want something bright and fun, whereas my OPI collection seems to sway more to the darker side - more suited to Autumn/Winter.

First up is Essie's Fear or Desire. It was kindly sent to me by my friend Gab (who many of you will recognise as YouTuber velvetgh0st) about a year ago and is the most incredibly bright-but-not-too-bright orange. It's a really fun and out-there colour if you're daring enough to wear an orange polish and looks so pretty on toes which is where I prefer to wear it.

Next is OPI's Suzi's Hungary Again. It's the ultimate "Barbie" pink, almost salmon pink, that looks a little lighter in the bottle than it applies (it's lighter in person than it photographs). I've been wearing it for the past few days and have had so many compliments on my nails. It also hasn't chipped once and I'm on Day 4 - amazing! Although OPI is pretty expensive, it is definitely worth the investment as they are so pigmented and very rarely chip, only slight wearing away on the tips.

On to Essie's Under Where? which is the prettiest lilac that I think is so underrated. It's really opaque as well, but I would recommend two coats if you want it to be fully opaque. It's perfect if you're looking for a polish that is along the pastel theme but brighter.

Then on to the very popular and ever-so-hyped-about Essie's Fiji. Should you believe the hype? Yes. Whilst it takes around three coats to get this polish to be fully opaque, the colour is incredible. It would make Edward Cullen look tanned, which is one of the main reasons I love it because I am almost the same colour as him (I've learned to embrace that I will be pale for life). It's so popular because it's so pretty and would suit any skin tone so if you're looking to expand your collection by one - buy this one!

And finally, the gorgeous Nails Inc in Porchester Square. I may have already written about this in the past (I'm sure I have) but I once had a spa day with my little sister and we had manicures as part of this, and I chose Porchester Square as my colour. Whilst the manicure itself wasn't fantastic, I fell in love with the taupey goodness of the polish and set out on a mission to buy it. It's not hard to get a hold of by any means but I had to find a good excuse to justify the £11 price tag (and I did! It's cheaper in America). If you're looking for a sophisticated nude that won't wash you out or look like you are dead (I'm a hater of Barry M's Gelly in Lychee because it does just that) then this is the one for you!
