Get Ready With Me: Valentines Day

So this is the first time I've ever done something like this, and it was actually pretty fun! A "Get Ready With Me" was never something I thought I would have the guts to do because it means that people see you without any make up on. It's not a pretty sight, and I apologise for that, but I hope you enjoy this anyway!

I missed out my skincare routine because I didn't think that it was vital. If you'd like me to post about my skincare routine, please comment below and let me know! Every morning, before I apply my make up, I make sure to exfoliate, clease, tone and moisturise my skin. I also use a lip scrub which has proven to be worth its weight in gold these past few months when the weather has been super cold. So here is my face after "prepping". I also make sure to have all my make up ready in front of me, as that's just how I like to do mine!
Step 1
I take my Benefit Boi-ing in the shade 01 and pat it on any spots, red patches and under my eyes. I also have a very visible vein down my nose (my nose is my worst feature and I hate it hate it hate it) so I make sure to try cover that up too.

Step 2
I then take my Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation in the shade 52 Vanilla and splodge it all over my face. I normally use about one and a half pumps because I like to spread it down my neck to blend it too. Nobody likes an orange line along the jaw. I like to use my fingers to blend this in because it's a gel consistency and I feel that a brush doesn't work so well.

Step 3
I recently received the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation in the shade fair-light neutral alongside the Tarte Airbuki brush. I've been loving these and I'll do a full review on them soon. I use this mineral powder and apply it all over my face and down my neck slightly. It mattifies my foundation and makes my skin look relatively flawless!

Step 4
I normally go for a darker contour but I wanted this look to be fairly light and girly, so I used my Too Faced Endless Summer 16 Hour Bronzer to contour with a brush from an amazing four-piece brush set I bought on eBay for under £5 (which I will also do a review about soon) and you can buy from this link here. Please ignore my Zoolander face - I find it easier to follow my cheekbones when I do this as my cheeks are so big!

Step 5
I then use Revlon's Photoready Cream Blush in the shade 300 Coral Reef. This is a love or hate product for me and at the moment I love it. I smile so I can gently pat this in from the apples of my cheeks and along my cheekbones. It's always good to be super light when applying products like this as less is definitely more.

Step 6
I then take my MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in the shade Soft and Gentle and apply this with another of my eBay brushes along my cheekbones very lightly up to my temples and slightly above the ends of my eyebrows. This product is something that everyone seems to love and I don't hate it because I definitely use it but I find that I have to be very gentle when applying otherwise I become super shiny and that's not ideal!

Step 7
I then apply my Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original to my eyelids by squirting the teeniest amount on my finger, dividing that onto both index fingers and gently patting it over the lid, in the inner corners and under the eye slightly. I like to leave this to sink in a little first before applying eyeshadow - I don't know if this is the "right" way, but it's my way and works for me!

Step 8
Whilst that is setting, I take my MAC 208 brush and use MAC's Espresso to fill in my brows. I didn't include it in this tutorial but I mostly then brush them out and set them with a clear brown gel. At the moment I'm using Seventeen's Clear Definition Mascara and it seems to work well for me, but hopefully soon I'll be finding something a bit better suited to the job.

Step 9
Then onto the eyeshadow. I'm going for a pink, girly look so I'm using MAC's Yoghurt all over the lid with my MAC 239SE brush from their Divine Night collection.

Step 10
Using my MAC 217SE brush from the same set as mentioned above, I apply MAC's Cranberry to the outer corners and crease. I use my Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush to blend this in.

Step 11
I then apply liquid eyeliner. If I have a lot of time, I will normally use MAC's Blacktrack with a MAC 209 brush but today I opted for the L'orĂ©al Super Liner Perfect Slim. I just create a medium thickness line along my lashline but don't flick it out at the end to create a winged effect. You can do this to mix it up a little, but I just wanted to give the impression of thicker lashes. The sun kindly decided to disappear when I was trying to take photos of this so I apologise for the random dip in quality!

Step 12
I then use my trusty Maybelline Rocket Volum' Mascara along my top lashes. This one has lasted me a long time and I love it, although it's starting to show signs of drying out now. I have another mascara that I bought and want to try first but I will definitely be repurchasing this one after! It makes my lashes so long and thick but doesn't clump them or make them have that horrible spider leg effect. Can we just take a moment to appreciate my "mascara face". Everyone has one, and this is mine - a very surprised look haha!

Step 13
I then use a very bright and pink colour for my lips, although you could definitely opt for a nude glossy look too! I used a Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the shade Unapologetic. The colour payoff for this is incredible and, even though it's matte, it feels really moisturising! Again, sorry for the weird lighting!

Step 14
I then take my hair down and straighten it. I'm not good with curlers or curling because my hair is so thick it takes so long to get it all done and then it falls down after a few hours because it's so heavy. So straight it always is!

Step 15
Then I get dressed! I've chosen to wear a baby pink chiffon-y top with a lace collar from Topshop (a long time ago!), my blue Topshop Leigh jeans, my Kurt Geiger brown heeled boots, my Topshop leather jacket and my Urban Outfitters Tortoise bag.

Step 16
And last, but not least, perfume. I spray a few spritz of my current favourite - Victor and Rolf Flowerbomb. So perfect!

So there you have it! My Valentines look. Like I said, I had a lot of fun doing this!
Let me know what you think - should I do more of these or just stick to reviews? I'm super excited for Valentines this year as my boyfriend and I are currently doing the whole "long distance" thing and I don't see him that often. It's also our three year anniversary a few days later so we're having a special weekend together consisting of lots and lots of food!

What are your plans for Valentines Day?

Until next time!
